The year was 1981 and I was a Junior at University of Illinois at Champaign.  Rubik's cube was the rage.  A group of engineering friends and I figured out the solution.  We even built a machine for engineering open house that could solve it.  From the archives, here is the sheet of paper I wrote in 1981 with simple instructions on the moves that solve the elusive Rubik's Cube.
